Taranjit Singh Sandhu
Former Ambassador of India to the United States
Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu is a senior Indian diplomat with over three decades of distinguished service in the Indian Foreign Service. He has held several high-profile assignments across key global capitals and multilateral platforms, most notably serving as India’s Ambassador to the United States from 2020 to 2024, where he played a pivotal role in deepening the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Prior to this, he served as High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Deputy Chief of Mission in Washington D.C., Consul General in Frankfurt, and held important positions at India’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York.
At the Ministry of External Affairs, he headed divisions overseeing UN affairs and human resource management. He currently serves as Advisor to the Board and Chairman of the Geopolitical Institute at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), contributing to strategic initiatives such as the Quad and the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
